ARGENT SILVERSMITH DIAMONDS

All Argent Silversmith diamonds are conflict-free and purchased from accredited diamond suppliers. We ensure to source high quality diamonds for all Argent collection pieces and each is sourced in accordance with the Kimberley Process*

The natural white diamonds we use for our made to order collection pieces are G-F or above in colour, placing them in the rare white colour scale and each has VS, or above, clarity.

Our 0.03ct (2mm) diamonds are ethically sourced from the Argyle mines in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, renowned for producing the finest quality stones - this mine is now closed down so these diamonds are limited in quantity.

Our 0.11ct (3mm) diamonds are sourced from our Australian accredited diamond supplier, conflict free and in accordance with the Kimberley Process*

CUT

A well-cut diamond will maximise the way the stone interacts with light, creating a stunning array of sparkle and scintillation.

All our diamonds are a round brilliant cut unless otherwise specified.

All Argent diamonds are sourced by trained diamond specialists to ensure the best quality cuts.

COLOUR

Diamonds are graded on a colour scale with the scale beginning with the letter D and ending with Z; D representing colourless Diamonds and Z, a light yellow or brown Diamond.

The value of white diamonds is determined by their proximity to 'colourlessness'. The more a diamond lacks colour, the higher its value.

All diamonds used in our Argent made to order collection pieces are F-H in colour, or above, putting them in the colourless to near colourless or rare white category.

CLARITY

As natural diamonds are formed in the Earth, they generally contain "unique birthmarks" either internal (known as inclusions) or external (known as blemishes). Diamond clarity refers to the absence of inclusions and blemishes, grading the purity of the stone according to the visibility of these characteristics under high magnification or to the naked eye.

At Argent, we only source clear diamonds graded VS in clarity or higher (VS stands for Very Slightly Included). Which means all our diamonds are eye-clean with only minor inclusions that can sometimes even be hard to see under magnification.

Our 0.03ct (2mm) Argyle diamonds are VS-VVS clarity

Our 0.11ct (3mm) diamonds are F-VS clarity

CARAT

‘Carat’ refers to the weight of a gemstone, which directly corresponds to its size. The value of a diamond increases as carat weight increases, because larger diamonds are rarer and more desirable.

However, carat weight itself does not determine the value of a diamond, it is important to consider all of the 4Cs (cut, colour, carat & clarity) when assessing its worth.

*(The Kimberley Process was established in 2003 by the United Nations to prevent “conflict diamonds” from entering the mainstream rough diamond market. This means every diamond purchased isn't from suspect sources, unknown suppliers or suppliers in countries that have not implemented the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme).
